Leadership "Remember those who led you, who spoke the word of God to you; and considering the result of their conduct, imitate their faith." - Hebrews 13:7
Elders
Here is a trustworthy saying: Whoever aspires to be an overseer desires a noble task. Now the overseer is to be above reproach, faithful to his wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him, and he must do so in a manner worthy of full respect. (If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God’s church?) He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited and fall under the same judgment as the devil. He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil’s trap. - 1 Timothy 3:1-7
"The goal of faithfulness is not that we will do work for God, but that He will be free to do His work through us. God calls us to His service and places tremendous responsibilities on us. He expects no complaining on our part and offers no explanation on His part. God wants to use us as He used His own Son." - Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for His Highest
Pastor

Marty has been a member of King's Church for over 10 years. A proud Irishman, he has been living in the UK since 1986.
Marty is employed here by the church as director of operations, which as you can imagine, is a huge undertaking. Marty serves not only here but in all areas of church life as well, and has proven his faithfulness and adaptability many times over.
Marty is married to Lynsey, who is a great support to him. He has four children from previous relationships: Christopher, Abi, Josiah and Phoebe. Together Marty and Lynsey serve as Life Group leaders for the church.
Over the past ten years, Marty has helped the church through so many different phases irrespective of what life was throwing at him. He is a man of covenant and integrity. Marty has a real passion for the word of God and is gifted in the area of teaching. He remains standing and is a true man of great worth to any leadership team.
Pastor Paul Akinbadewa
Light the Way
Paul has a pastoral heart towards people in the church and heads up our global Light the Way missions.
Paul is originally from Nigeria and holds his home nation very dear to his heart. In fact he is still very much involved with various ministries over there. He has developed a company that supplies solar powered equipment to Nigeria and various other African nations, which is as much his own personal ministry as it is a business.
Paul is married to Denise and together they have two children: Jesse and Kemi. Denise serves in King's Kids and as an English teacher for non-English speakers within our congregation (ESOL), and together they lead a Life Group in their home.
Through his work and natural presence, you can immediately see that Paul is an extremely caring and compassionate man. He has a real desire to see unity throughout the body of Christ and his humanitarian work make us all at King's Church Ministries incredibly proud.
Pastor Yemi
Onabanjo
Prayer & Intercession
Formerly our head deacon, Yemi has proven himself faithful as both a servant and a leader. He is a steadfast man of God, leading our prayer ministry team that meets on a weekly basis. He has seen our monthly body prayer meeting grow from a handful of attendees to the point where there are barely enough chairs to seat everyone.
Yemi and his wife Toyin are both originally from Nigeria - they have been members of King's Church since 2010 and together they have two daughters - Tomi and Dara.
Pastor
Chris Gill
Pastor of King's Church Gillingham
Pastor Chris has a passion for the word of God and a compassion for people: young, old and those in between. He loves mission trips and travelling, particularly overseas - so it is no surprise that our multicultural congregation in Gillingham continues to grow.
Having served as a police officer for over 25 years, some of that time in Gillingham, and also as an assistant pastor at Ashford Christian Fellowship for 10 years, Pastor Chris has a library of both ministry and life experiences from which to draw.
He is married to his lovely wife Sally and they have two grown up children: Matt and Vicky.
The range of situations that people can face is varied and sometimes complex, which requires spiritual guidance to help smooth the path. This is why our Pastor Chris and the Pastoral Care team are here to help. Although working primarily at King's Church Gillingham, he is still very much involved in King's Church Ministries as a whole.
Pastor
James Sowah
Elder, King's Church Gillingham
James originally comes from Ghana, having arrived in the UK a decade ago. He holds a Masters Degree in Pharmacy. In 2008 he was ordained into the pastoral team at The VOICE and subsequently served as an assistant pastor. James loves to pray and he is very passionate about prayer and discipleship, and believes nobody or situation is beyond the realms of God and prayer. His desire is to see people transformed in their daily lives through implementation of godly principles and perspectives, and to step into greater service for God's Kingdom. James loves to worship and has served in most ministries within the church here and in Ghana.
He oversees the Gillingham prayer ministry and is part of the pastoral care team at the Gillingham congregation. He believes that the Church must be Spirit-filled, healthy in discipleship, vibrant, compassionate, relevant purposefully and systematic. James is always interested in making the life of this church better and exploring what else can be done to further this church's reach and depth.
James is married to Sandra, his childhood sweetheart who is a pharmacist and an active member of the worship team. He loves God dearly and deeply and enjoys reading, music, travelling, cycling, and football.

Deacons
In the same way, deacons are to be worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging in much wine, and not pursuing dishonest gain. They must keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience. They must first be tested; and then if there is nothing against them, let them serve as deacons. - 1 Timothy 3:8-10
In those days when the number of disciples was increasing, the Hellenistic Jews among them complained against the Hebraic Jews because their widows were being overlooked in the daily distribution of food. So the Twelve gathered all the disciples together and said, “It would not be right for us to neglect the ministry of the word of God in order to wait on tables. Brothers and sisters, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them and will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word.” - Acts 6:1-4
